Inverter sitting Idle after battery firmware update + Battery problem

2 x 2.6kWh Gen 1 Batteries Firmware 3017

Yesterday evening I noticed that one of the batteries was not discharging despite reading as full, I tired updating the firmware to 3020 but it failed.

Today I physically turned both batteries off and on again, they rebooted fine.

Tried the firmware update again and now my Inverter is just sitting Idle, tried restarting it and no change. We're importing from the grid solar is 0W despite it being sunny outside. Not sure what to try next, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Turn everything off. Consumer unit MCB to inverter, DC strings from PV panels, battery isolators to inverter etc etc.
Let everything go dead for 30 s or so and turn back on.
This should make sure battery and inverter reboot.
Log in to inverter on portal and check settings are what you want. EG Eco is on and battery settings are correct.
There is a sequence for this somewhere, but I dont have it - sorry

I happened to notice the firmware update last night, ran it and my 50% full battery drained to zero. I didn’t think it could drain so fast.

Thank you Steve, I had to wait until after 10pm as the PV isolators would not turn off whilst under load, but after the complete shutdown everything seems to work fine now.

The firmware updated ok and I did a forced discharge to check both batteries and they behaved as expected.

David - when I initially had my issues, the battery that was working drained really quickly, it's something that I've seen in the past, but until this recent hiccup it's been a long time since I had any problems with the system. It's about 3 years now since install.

TRBob Hello, I have come across your post from last year. the exact issue happened with us, on same equipment although have 2 bigger batteries. I can't get them to connect up with inverter even though turned everything off and on again a few times after the inverter had done a software update. Did this work after redoing the firmware update and shutting everything down and starting up again late at night? The batteries start up but inverter stays idle and won't communicate with batteries as they too drained to zero after the firmware update.

pwdst one is showing 39.V and the other 40V

That is far too low, the safest option would be a DC Direct charge via an electrician - ideally your installer or another former GivEnergy installer.
GivEnergy Support were able to revive batteries remotely in some circumstances by changing the type to Lead Acid, turning Auto Read BMS off and running the Activate Battery command.
I am not clear if all of those registers are even available via third party tooling and we certainly don't have any manuals or support guides to help us determine if that would be appropriate, helpful or even safe in your case.
If possible get an electrician to charge them.
