Why does my inverter use 8 IP addresses (v4)? Is this normal?

Is it wired in?
The only thing i can think of is these devices do broadcast an open unsecure wifi network. Are other devices bridging on using this network. Just an idea.

Where are you seeing the 8 IP addresses? On the inverter? On the router? Somewhere else?

Has your router previously assigned different addresses if the signal gets lost and rediscovered?
Are you looking at a list of previously assigned addresses, even though they may no longer be being used.
Can you assign a fixed IP address to your inverter/dongle in your router settings, so that way, if it it gets lost and rediscovered it will always be the same.
Then tell the router to forget all the old ones
Yes, configure a fixed ip address for the inverter's/dongle's MAC address on the DHCP server and delete all of the unused ones.
Sorry guys, we had a major internet outage in the last few days, total loss of service. So I need to look carefully at your advice.
One thing I can say is that my GIV portal graphs give a very good timing for the outage - nothing received at all.
