Hi is there an EMS available to run 2 GIV 5KW v1 Hybrid inverters together with a battery pack on each inverter
I can see that they are available for the AC Coupled systems just not sure if compatible with the hybrid system

It's called 'HEMS'. Last thing I heard is that it was in final testing - about a year ago. I doubt it will be released ...

Thanks that's good to know the name of it, i was at Solar and Storage in the NEC 2 weeks ago at the GIVenergy stand and a Rep said that it was available for my Hybrid set up just dont know who to contact re getting hold of one
Maybe he didn't quite get my explanation of my setup

Deanosbeanos its worth you reading other threads on here to be aware of likely downsides and upsides of the EMS unit for your hybrids based on those that have the EMS for AC inverters.

I have a similar setup, two gen 1 5kW inverters each with their own batteries. I’m not currently planning on getting a HEMS unit. Too expensive (circa £1000 including fitting and commissioning), some side effects of having it, and not enough benefits to make it worthwhile for me

Ok thanks for the reply will do, if i go ahead and fit the batteries to my second inverter with another Gem120 CT and recommission will GIV energy still honour the equipment warrantees

Deanosbeanos a hybrid plant setup (multiple hybrid inverters each with their own battery) is not a recommended setup by GivEnergy, but it is supported. There are a number of us with such a setup.

Key things to be aware of:

  • the two inverters will share house load between them, they both discharge and stop you importing unnecessarily
  • if you have a reasonably new firmware then the firmware has ‘AC charge’ capability, which means that if one inverter has filled its battery and is exporting the excess solar then the other inverter (as long as its battery isn’t full) will use the AC to charge its battery as well as its own DC solar
  • because of this, the two inverters can and will cross charge, I get it almost always from inverter 0 to inverter 1, especially overnight when there’s no solar and the inverters are in Eco mode. Overnight 0 discharges at a slow rate and 1 charges at a slow rate so I end up with 1 full and 0 emptier. In my case I have a 9.5 on inverter 0 and a 5.2 on inverter 1. I have Gen 1 inverters, the newer inverters are faster and can cross charge more aggressively
  • the energy graphs in the GivEnergy app are rubbish with multi inverters. The app just gets the calculation of house load completely wrong. I get things like negative solar generation, numbers not adding up, etc. I basically never use the app now and rely on Home Assistant for my reports

A raspberry Pi to run HA on. HA and everything else is free to download, even Geoffrey's time helping!!
There may well be other options for pc, buy i think a pi is a well chosen route
I have a old Pi from my son (now grown up) with an SSD, but current thinking is newer Pi versions are better

I think the biggest and best investment will be your time watching one of the numerous videos on youtube. I found watching them far easier to follow than reading all the technical instructions. I was up and running in about 2 hrs, and while I have setup my own dashboards, they are really just playing.
