App Problems - Often Have To Restart My Inverter - Is It Just Me?

Hi,

I've an AC coupled 5kw inverter (2021 install) and two 8.2kWh batteries.

Most times when I change from "Discharge Now" to "Resume" using the latest ios app. the batteries drop down to supplying a lot less than the house load (2-5 watts) usually.

I've tried leaving it for up to 10 mins this doesn't help - the only way I can get the system to work correctly is to reset my inverter.

Today I manually updated both batteries firmware to 3007 - no improvement.

GivEnergy so far have been no help - anyone else come across this problem?

Thanks

Edward I've never used the app to control the inverter but leave my inverters in ECO mode (AKA Mode1) all the time. My understanding is that the inverter receives it's control commands via the internet, initiated from your web portal, or app, or from your installer's web portal/app or from Givenergy's engineers' portal. If the internet connection between the inverter and the Givenergy cloud is lost it will continue in the mode it was last set to, even after power cycling, as that is the mode stored in the inverter register. The only way round this scenario would be to send control messages locally over Givtcp.

I suggest you check what the inverter is set to via your portal login/web browser and check it's set to ECO. You could experiment to see if it returns to ECO mode after you have forced a discharge and resumed from your app.

Thanks Tim - when the bug occurs everything looks correct in the web portal, the only way to get the batteries to start matching the house demand is a reset of the inverter.

A strange one!

Edward If you can only get the inverter to operate "normally" by reseting the inverter, I suggest a call to Givenergy is needed to get them to look at the issue.

Silly question but I was told to use mode 2 but cannot see it, can only see Eco and timed setting If ECO is AKA Mode 1 what is Mode 2 AKA

I have almost the exact issue and its happened twice using the app.
Nice sunny morning, click discharge using the quick set buttons. when the battery is flat I click pause as i may as well export all I can before the low export afternoon income prices.
Once I click "play" again it decided to do its own thing, sometimes charging the battery for a short while or putting the inverter into standby mode. I check the remote settings and all appear well.
The only work around I found is to open the app, go to settings in the top right and then click the bottom right 3 line button to reset the system modes.
This has fixed it the last twice.

If I go straight from discharge to play it works normally
