Noticed when I got back a short while ago, there was an Octopus saving session this evening. Anyone know what they were paying tonight? Is it better or worse than last year? Irritatingly, I actually had a full battery to export as it's been sunny all day. Not had much sunshine recently!
Edit.. Just noticed in the email it was 96 octopoints or 12p per kWh. Oh well, probably lost all of 30p on my Gen1. 🤔
I got a bit more than you as I am on Agile outgoing and the export rate was a healthy 22p in those two slots.
But I got less than I could have done because wifey came home about 30 minutes before the slot and started cooking tea, which overran into the DFS session. And one of my batteries has stopped working so I was only exporting from one inverter. Predbat handled it all for me, auto-enrolling me and managing the export.

I sometimes wonder if all the kerfuffle of trying to save a few bob here and there is really worth it. I paid £3.75 for a latte the other morning, and last night missed out on 30p, which amounts to about 1 sip depending how hot it is!! 😂😂

TimHutchings that just proves you overpaid for your latte! But I do agree, it is all too easy to get fixated on chasing small amounts of income.
The DFS income is awful now, its very much in the 'why bother' category.
TimHutchings I signed up - no intention of exporting, but I have imported during this time slot a few times over the last couple of weeks, and enough solar for battery to get me through, so I should get something for importing less than usual.

I rarely import over the 4-7pm time frame, apart from the occasional blip when boiling a kettle or using a couple of hobs with the airfryer or microwave. That's the problem with the Gen1 inverter and a max output of 2600w. I would have signed up for the DFS, but was out from lunch until the evening and I didn't get the email till 2.30pm, so unfortunately missed it.
I'm on IOG, as are you from memory, and charge the 9.5kW fully overnight. On a few of the really dull days, with only around 1 kW of generation or less, I usually run out after around 9pm and have to use the grid till 11.30pm. If we get upwards of 3-4 kW of generation, I'm usually good till the cheap rate kicks in. That also includes the A2A heating on most of the day, set at 20c and using around 150w-300w an hour once up to temp, with outside temps at 5-10c. We're quite well set up here!

Whether the savings are worth the effort, is a valid point. But for me, the benefit has been the reengagement of my brain, post retirement.
I'm now learning Python. Although I'm not entirely sure I know what I am going to do with it!

Perhaps I should go down the bean to coffee cup machine route to save the enormous expense and costs of Lattes. This would make saving 30p more worthwhile!
However as for Python, I'm just not in to snakes, and feel I'd be better learning another language instead like Mandarin, since China seems to be intertwined in almost all products we use. 😀
Henry3rd pretty cool, amazing how much free resources there are now, and the generative AI can take a lot of the legwork out of coding although you do have to check and double check what they produce
I have self-taught myself enough Python to 'get by' but am definitely not proficient in it. Once you know how to code in one programming language learning another isn't that difficult. My coding days are well behind me but it got me thinking how many languages I have coded in, its at least 15, and that's counting Basic and Assembly Language as 1 each.
