Capacity of 2x 2.6 battery showing only 2600W at 100%

Hi, new system install since Friday. It’s only been a couple of days but just wondering why the GIVENERGY app and portal show the battery as 2600W at 100%. The portal correctly reports 2 battery packs. Should it allow me to charge to 5600W? The batteries show all green lights but just wondering if it’s been configured/ installed incorrectly. I have a GIVENERGY G2 3.6kW hybrid inverter.

You may need to contact support as this won't be news your going to like and it may have changed since but if you have the 2.6kWh battery I'm pretty sure it's limited at 0.5C! which basically means it'll only charge at half it's "capacity" I.e 2.6kWh battery / 2 = 1.3kW.
Having 2 of them would net you 2.6kW charge rate (which is what you appear to have showing?)

There is a thread somewhere with a table about it. I don't think it's very good not to publish it more openly as it is not immediately clear from the datasheets (although your installer should have known and informed you)

So Dan lambert posted a link with a table for maximum charge and discharge rate in this thread. At the time (before Gen 2 inverters were around) it looks like the 2.6kWh battery is limited to 1.25kW per pack. The Gen 2 inverter "might" have changed it but cant see why it would as it appears a battery limitation as opposed to an inverter one.

Wow, thanks for the information. The installer didn’t mention anything about this but I didn’t ask either as the quote just listed 2 x 2.6 GIVENERGY batteries for 5.2kW storage.
So should I call the installer or go straight to GIVENERGY? So what would you recommend as a solution? Should I exchange them for a larger capacity battery. My main aim is to store enough during winter to reduce peak rate usage.

Aberneithyig1 i guess the cheapest way is to just keep adding packs. Another 2.6kWh should give you another 1.25kW of charge rate and take you beyond the max Charge of the Inverter (3.6kW)
Who pays for that I'll leave you to battle out.

I'd speak to installer first but also drop GE a message about it just to make sure I'm not talking rubbish and the new Gen2 inverter can tell those batteries to give it more. Hardly anyone has the Gen2 so I don't know much about them.
That or your installer has actually fitted a Gen 1 hybrid, as they max out at 2.6kW to/from batteries.

There appears to be some confusion between instantaneous power (in kW), and stored energy (in kWh as reported on your utility bill).

The 2x2.6 batteries will have a total energy storage capacity of 5.2 kWh.

The info from Dan Lambert is related to the maximum instantaneous power available from each battery pack, which is 1.25 kW per pack, so 2.5 kW for the pair.

So for example if you had a very full kettle with a 3 kW element that was switched on for 6 minutes, the instantaneous power would be 3 kW, and the energy consumed over the 6 minutes would be 3 kW * 6/60 minutes = 0.3 kWh.

Of the 3 kW kettle load, 2.5 kW could come from the batteries, but the remaining 0.5 kW would have to come from either solar PV or the grid.
