Turned the battery back on as the inverter gets replaced today, it had been turned off to retain its remaining charge for the last 2.5 month, as it dropped from 65% to 38% in two weeks of trying to reconnect.

Today it says it has 0Ah left but is still 52.64 volts on one screen and 0.33v on another.

Guessing one is the battery, the other what the inverter is seeing.
Bit concerned about the 0%, but at least it's reset from 100Ah/5.2 battery back to 186Ah/9.52 battery

Hmm, it's just updated, 30Ah remaining, but still 0%

wrighar the inverter gets replaced today

If you are expecting that GivEnergy field engineers will be doing this then they were all made redundant last week and at least one appointment on Friday did not happen.

My installer turned up this morning with a replacement (repaired) 5kW G3 inverter with originally a very similar invter serial no to mine, same yymm code, just 128 newer G700 to G828, by superceeded to a 25YY code and November week code, R027.

Installed but they could commission or add it to my account, nor create a new account.
I could see the dongle and set it to my home SSID and could locally control.

Battery was still failing in same way, but with some excellent help from an ex-employee we did a bit of testing and found the new inverter was OK (old definitely isn't), and it was a dry joint on the battery BMS board and a wiggle fixed it for now (until I can get to re-solder it).

So all up and running.

New inverter has been added to my account, so figures look a little odd as it thinks there are 2, but most of my stull is via inverter app and Home Assistant (which I new have a load of extras's to add to.

3 hrs.. Would never have got it working in the ex employee star hadn't offered and provided their knowledge.

wrighar Nice! Glad it's worked out!

Can you share more about the specifics of the BMS dry joint? Any photos? Could be handy for others in the future.

The people at on the ground at GivEnergy were clearly knowledgeable and passionate - it is a shame that poor management destroyed the company.

wrighar Did you keep the old inverter for spares?

W
#8 wrighar

Vestas Maybe....

and it's still showing on my account

but it does confuse the battery %age figures

currently charging at 200W (dropped for 3.6kW) but only 54% changed and says discharging..

also scales all doubled...

I wonder if it thinks the battery is 95% or fuller and is topping it off, when it's really only 53%

Also GivTCPv3 is dieing as I can't talk to the offline inverter I think

Our batteries swapped by GE in January are still shown in the portal under battery firmware, they did eventually drop off elsewhere though.

I recently spend some time pruning GivTCP entities related to them in Home Assistant which has made things tidier.

wrighar The battery is probably full. You had 52V or something on it earlier so that's probably about 30-40% full, regardless of what the battery or inverter SoC claims.

Run it through a couple of cycles.

Yes, it charged from what it thought was 15% (really 38%) too 100% in an odd way:

But as the new inverter wasn't commissioned it never did a full calibrate, just a charge and set, so thinks full is 148.8Ah.
I'll run a calibrate at 11pm tonight and pick up the cheap rate

Just about got HA moved over to the new Givtcp names/inverter names.

Had a little trouble with GivTCP v3 crashing trying to configure a missing inverter and the webui not staying up long enough to fix, but I found the config file to txt edit.

Guessing I may be one of the last if not the last warranty repairs.

ectoplasmosis Large ceramic resister sitting in the middle of the BMS board 5W 20Ohm.

Gave it a waggle and started working. need to plan one day to remove bms board and reflow the solder on the bottom of the resistor, but one green/on it's not used.

Bit like winning a sweepstake really 😃

In at the wire...

35m at 0% now, and still it's pushing out some power, must be near the bottom now. 1st calibrate in 2 years.
Reached it, now working back up

wrighar Can you/your installer fool the GE Portal by changing the serial number internally to be the same as your previous one? Desperate times require desperate measures, as they say.

W
#20 wrighar

T-M Not a function an installer can do, it was GE HO only (and my installer couldn't even get his installer app to work properly yesterday, but PL helped out immensly.

Also if you change the inverter serial, you can then never refit the old one.....

I now have 2...

wrighar Did it complete OK and how did you initiate the calibration - portal, inverter app or GivTCP?

W

Vestas

I used a timed portal start of 23:00, thinking it would be empty around 00:30 when my 5 hrs of cheap 6.5p electricity starts.

I could have done it via Inverter app of GivTCP, but went via portal remote control and monitored the stages by Inverter App.

the 148.8Ah has come up to 192Ah, still down on the 200Ah of April 2024's Full calibration, but it's the first one since then. so a 4% drop in 24 month?
A slower charge may have seen a better AH figure, but it's still over 9.5kWh
It took 10.4kWh of charge in before losses.

40 mins it was discharging after it got to 0%, and 2 hrs after 100%

Battery calibration (done at a fairly cold 10C) capacity 192.8Ah down from 200Ah, down 3.6Ah in 24 months:

I think I need to plug my old inverter into the mains for a day or so, let it go past midnight and reset.

Portal is still reading this after 4 days:

Only other annoying oddity is the home load Total is stuck at 0, when the today counter counts.

I've created a helper, but shouldn't have too.
