Too good to be true?

It seems that I am now going to be expected to pay £4.99 a month simply to see how much I am exporting to the grid and set the timer on my battery. I'm pretty appalled by this tbh.

However, if I sign up to Axle then I will be paid £10.00 a month AND get a fabulous £1.00/kWh at times of grid stress.

This seems like it is too good to be true, so I wonder if anyone can throw some light on it?

If it really is this good why don't Axle simply pay Givenergy the £4.99 and let me have the app for free?

Not quite: you will get £1/kWh, and they will top it up to £10 if you export less than 10kWh per month. (I'm not sure what happens if you game the system by deliberately exporting less, if you still get the topup.)

I have to assume that Axle think they can earn more than £1/kWh. And sufficiently more that it's worth their while paying GE for access. (I assume they've negotiated a better rate than £4.99 - GE will probably get a lot more subscriptions this way than if they were doing it alone.)

Similarly Octopus with IOF.

DD There's been a lot of share issue & other changes to Axle since the start of May. New directors, new shares, etc. Latest update today.

For those thinking there's a degree of correlation between GE administration events well that's shurely shome coincidence as the Eye would have it 😉 As is the spam every GE owner got some years ago about Axle no doubt......

I can see how much I have exported on the GE portal without paying the subscription. Just click on the import total to scroll to exported.

Ortwin All I can see is the home page with the four little circles. every other function requires me to sign up to the monthly tariff or join Axle.
But I have also just seen that Givenergy have gone into administration! I'm assuming that is all part of the issue and why the app part of the company is now charging.

The tl;dr is GE Software Ltd will be going bust soon unless they pay their debts to GE Ltd (who are in receivership). They're unlikely (IMHO) to be able to raise £6m+ in loans from future subs,

Someone will buy GE Software for the access to the "GE fleet" of batteries etc which can be monetised like you wouldn't believe.

Axle seem to have had some USA investment in the last month....
