Seems to be worth some bumps every now and then.....
I have sent that to my installer as well. They may already have known but if not I am sure it will be a relief to know there is someone to talk too. Even if it means me paying.
Hudson123 Well it's a big relief to me and i suspect to many others too.

Without engineer access I'm not sure how this works?
If the portal goes then?
(Not trying to be a downer but this does seem intrinsically linked to the portals existence!)
hoggy hypothetically there are various technical routes that could give them access to your system.

DD yes there is, but is the target market capable of that - spending half the time explaining remote desktop or port forwarding sounds a massive pain (I suspect there's really a new dongle or app on the way)
hoggy yeah. Though I guess for anyone to have even discovered these guys, they've got over the first hurdle at least.
Here are the current support rates as of 02/06/2026
Thanks for reaching out, safe to saw, we're always here to help!!

Having had help from Paul in the past, when my installer was struggling to commission my new inverter and also at various points during the beta testing, I think the prices seem quite good.
It's not cheap, but they're experts in this field and I reckon they'll get most problems fixed quite quickly or at least find the answer for more complicated things (like the inverter is broken, this is what is wrong).
TX200 I think the prices are reasonable, and after all it gives one hope that your system can be revived. You never know they might have the contacts to purchase spare boards etc. Surely there must be some parts on offer somewhere in the administration process one would have thought.
There is a potential problem I envisage.
Currently everyone's installers are liable for at least the first 6 years of the warranty (CRA 2015, reasonable lifespan).
AIUI if anyone other than GivEnergy Ltd (not GE Software Ltd) "touches" the install (even remotely) then the installer is no longer liable.
Its something to bear in mind if your installer is unlikely to choose to go bust (Octopus, EON etc). Edit - or you paid with a credit card/finance, both of those cases (section 75 claims) will definitely be adversely affected should someone other than your installer become involved.
Vestas Yes but in the real world wouldn't you rather have paid expert help and advice on call rather than go through weeks/ months of trying to get sense out of reluctant installers or making legal claims.
And how would the installer know the kit had been touched remotely?
downfield Personally I'd take the legal route because I know there's no possibility of my installer going into administration. They also know they're on the hook for this as they took legal advice.
The installer will know (assuming they check, I certainly would if my business depended on it) because they can see all the settings which have been changed via the portal. Anything changed after GE Ltd went bust which isn't accessible to the user via the portal/app and they know someone has been messing about.
Its just something to bear in mind if you know you're going to get paid out via Section 75 or small claims track.
I very much doubt Paul and the rest of PredBat support have access to any Giv settings either as an employee or as an installer.
(If they do, they probably shouldn't have and shouldn't use them!).
They will presumably help the end user fix problems without actually logging in as themselves. And/or help the installers in a similar fashion.
Bump to the top
TX200 as an installer.
Hmm the bar was pretty low to be an installer so they could have installer access and I would think that would be absolutely fine...
hoggy Perhaps this would be an option. https://www.kickstarter.com/.../predbat-hub-cut-energy...
I think it is being developed so that they do not have to rely on the api.
M_J I'm assuming if they do setup installer access for a specific user's system, the original installer is out of play (the most recent installer to make changes takes responsibility for the whole system?). Although that then gives issues with CRA?!?
Without warranty and without installers support then having an option that costs is worth having when folk have spent so much on a system.
Up to folk if they use the service..
It's good to know that they are there to help.
They are going to need quite a few faults to provide an income for all of those involved. I really do hope they can survive. Maybe they should have a subscription service also to keep the funds rolling in?
duplada Maybe they should have a subscription service also to keep the funds rolling in?
I'd suggest that'd be a bad idea in terms of how it looks.
Its like charging insurance to people who thought they already had insurance.
YMMV of course.
I'd have thought marketing to ex(isting)-installers would be a better plan, as they're the ones on the hook.
Vestas Well I just hope that they can generate enough funds to keep going and hopefully expand their services.
Great! I have mentioned earlier that the installer made mistakes and we have had repeated unresolved issues - some still outstanding - well today's heat pump installer electrician has explained what is happening and suggested the solution (which was next on the list to try from Givenergy) so good to know we can get further support from them.
Also: simple fix!
Glad you got it sorted. email the guys at pred support and register your interest in their services.
https://www.predsupport.com is now live! it would seem that they will be having a subscription service for customers and not just installers. That's great I will subscribe to that so that the business is around when I need them.
duplada having a subscription service for customers and not just installers. That's great I will subscribe
Hmm just a place holder web site at the moment, I will be interested to see what the cost of the subscription service is....
One to watch...

My installer is already using them for any issues that they cannot solve themselves. Hope that they can keep going.
Ive used them already, 1 on 1 video call, erased the dongle, updated it and got connected. Done in under 20 mins.
While on the call we chatted about all sorts, but the theme was they are very busy indeed and already looking at more agents to cope with demand.
I asked about access too, he said if the installer gives it to us, we can see the same data, but with more expert eyes.
So really kinda what the 1st aiders were doing with Giv. But more prefessional, not rushed, at no point did i feel i was a burdon and to get me off the phone.
Proabbaly the longer we chatted the more they get paid. But i dont mind, it was a relax, stress free and productive call
TheGuru While on the call we chatted about all sorts, but the theme was they are very busy indeed and already looking at more agents to cope with demand.
That sounds really positive. I hope they do well.
I'm very pleased for these chaps as it seemed they were the glue that was holding a lot together for a while. That being said, I do hope full register access is released through GivTCP to enable used inverters/batteries to be installed and have access to all the commissioning settings in the future, whether that be by installers or this support team.
Bump to the top
My installer wasn't aware of these guys so I have passed on the links.
Would be great if they are able to provide hardware fixes as well as tech support.
At the moment my installer can't fix or maintain GE equipment. 🙁
All they can do is rip it out and sell new kit.
Nudge
duplada
I used Jacob last month for an email consultation regarding a future inverter swap if my Gen 1 packs up. He was very good and responsive and offered to guide me through the process if and when it's needed.
Peace of mind!
Argonauta Yes I have spoken to Jacob in the past very helpful guy.
Apparently going forward the Pred Support team are hoping to be able to provide spare parts which would be a huge step forward in keeping our systems operating.
duplada
Where did you hear that?
I'm pondering a second Aio at the right price but lack of spares is my biggest concern.....
Coys68 Where did you hear that?
I asked the question and that was the reply I received, I have no more details I can add though. You have to give them time, they are very bright people and they know what they have to do to succeed, and sourcing spares is obviously of top priority.

I did see this last night posted about a competitor support group (or maybe a splinter faction) has been setup.
Unclear who exactly from Predbat has jumped ship though....

Credit to them for setting up, the more the better. But that website and overall presentation is awful.
These I emailed 3 weeks ago, but I haven't seen a reply yet... admitedly I've been on holibobs for 2 of those...
hoggy
So......SBS is made up of guys who have left predsupport who were made up of guys formerly of GE but no mention of the dragon on SBS website.
Anyone know what exactly is going on?

That's all I can find:
