Gen2 inverter

Hi,

Anyone know if the gen2 has built in WiFi? I thought the dongle was needed for Gen1 or SIM card only. I understand it has does have an Ethernet port.

HY5 Gen2 has a built-in WiFi module, but a detachable aerial like on most high-end routers.

94jdh ... but if you have a choice of ethernet to your home network/router or wifi, go with hard-wired if practical. The wifi is fine but is another link in the chain which can cause problems (less so with a piece of wire).

Tim I've a mesh system, Orbi, which links down the garden to the gym and garage - this works really well for WiFi I will look to putting in the ethernet cable at the same time as the new power cable to the garage, thanks

94jdh If you're putting new cables in. Have a think about whether you want to change the supply cable to the garage as if you want an EV charger there any time, it would make cabling much simpler to size the power cable to cope with that situation. Also, whether you're thinking of an EV charger there at any point or not, for the cost of a second ethernet cable, I'd put one in anyway although you could put an ethernet switch in the garage for any services.

If you're wanting to make use of the EPS for lihting o broadband in the home, you may want to install a separate power cable from the garage to the house for that. It sounds like a lot of extra work, but it's much less than kicking yourself after the event.

Tim I'm having a 25mm armoured cable run to the garage, the existing one is a bit limited on my Wallbox EV charger as I only manage 5kWh charging rather than 7kWh.
Never had a issue with power cuts previously, however with the news we may have some this Winter it could be prudent to have that option available.
