Having set up Home Assistant and now bubbling along nicely independently of Givenergy, I'm debating putting a spare inverter on the shelf in case of failure. The plan would be to just keep going with GE kit rather than start again with new at the point of failure.

What I'm finding is that GE inverters are available but anything from around £840 upwards. So even the cheapest seem to have been inflated significantly to the point where it isn't palatable. Even the dubious second hand kit is going at silly prices and may have been trashed.

Does anyone recall the price of a 5kw hybrid before GE went pop please and anywhere they might be available now but at sensible money? If I can't secure one at a reasonable fee, I'll wait and then start again with different kit as and when it makes sense.

They were about £1k

Avenir Seems high - weren't they nearer £600? I see a new one at around £840 inc vat so maybe that isn't too bad after all?

I think they fluctuated quite a bit & depended on the Gen as a lot of places were still trying to shift Gen 1 gear even when Gen 3 had been out for years.
I thought they were about the £1k mark for G3 Inc VAT from memory.
A 5kW can be made into a 3.6 in software and vice versa so that part doesn't really matter.

I'd just get a second hand one to be honest if it's just going to sit on the shelf just incase (for instance I picked up a G3 hybrid and 5.2 battery for £260 off eBay a few days ago) keep the rest of the money in the bank as by the time your blow through 2 inverters your battery will probably be shot anyway - and then use the money towards the eventual upgrade.

hoggy I think you're right. I've got a couple of suppliers looking out for decent second hand and I'll also scan eBay to see what's available. Even if it's a few hundred quid, I can have that put in if there's a failure and buy some time to the full replacement.

If anyone has one going at decent money, I may well be interested. Cheers

What is this stuff you are posting about.
Does it have anything to do with GivEnergy systems?

No, they have just made 19 junk posts with the same rubbish link at the end of each.
