Just completed a move from inverter connected by wifi to circa 25m ethernet cable ahead of a change in networking in the house later this month. And just give some observations on that process. So, i have a gen3 hybrid and found that getting the front cover off to expose cables etc was more challenging than i was expecting. Even though the kit is out of warranty i found myself not wanting to damage the panels. I got a flat blade screw driver in to help separate. This video shows you don't really need that

And when terminating the ethernet cable don't do what i did and do that before you thread the cable through the cable gromit on the underside. Still more practice in the art of terminating ethernet cable. I went for the nuclear option of a system shutdown and restart to make the dip switch change and then re-booted my router. Perhaps i should have just tried re-booting the router first. And when you do switch over i discovered that you are then required to secure a new open wifi.

And of course don't forget to change any static ip allocations as the ethernet interface has a different mac address to the wifi.
I noticed in the video i linked that GE were suggesting fitting an external antenna in place of the one provided. I never tried that but could be useful for folks where signal strength is low. Although, in other cases where i have tried to change the wifi antenna i can't say i really noticed much difference in performance. Has anyone done that successfully with their GE kit ?
