Added a refurb 2nd battery and have finally found my charge limit with just hitting the 90-100% charge rate curve reduction in the last 15 minutes.

We've a 5hr cheap slot on Octopus Go from 0030-0530
Battery went from 8% to 92%, so a 84% charge increase.

17.2kW added, or 3.44kW per hour. That's enough for us for a day, and any additional solor can/will charge the remainder, although it would be more cost effective to export it than charge.

84% and 17.2kW gives the 2* 9.5's notional batteries capacity of 20.5kW when full.

Vestas ...and the rates are cheaper than Octopus.

Well not true, Octopus has a hidden rate it offers to leavers and the like for IOG "IOG Loyal" it has a headline rate of 6.66p and 34p. I renewed my IOG in September at 8p and 31.67p, I then heard about the Loyal IOG rate, found a link to it clicked it and joined in a single click. It makes sense for me because my battery is big enough to run all day on an overnight charge.

What is that link I here you asking? https://octopus.energy/smart/intelligent-octopus-go-loyal/

duplada The Go Electric v3 18 month fix (opened late Sept) on EDF was at 6.66p/30.2p and is the direct equivalent to Octopus Go, not IOG or "loyal"IOG.

Worth bearing in mind that the figures do not include VAT until April 2027, so the figures above for EDF and Octopus will be...

EDF GoElectric 18m v3 = 6.99p/31.7p (7 hours off-peak)

Octopus "Loyal" IOG = 6.99p/35.7p (6 hours off-peak)

Pretty sure that Octopus Go (equivalent to EDF GoElectric) is even more expensive and only has 5 hours off-peak.

Also EDF pay 13p/unit for export.

People can decide for themselves which company is taking you for a ride 😉

Well i spent 10 years with EDF terrible experience never again. At least with Octopus you can actually get to talk to someone.

duplada We're at nearly £500 in compo with another £40 coming for late final bill. IN THREE YEARS!

Octopus are shit. Their metrics are worse than anyone apart from British Gas and continue to decline.

EDF's metrics are better than Octopus and continue to improve.

I did an exercise yesterday in prep for taking them to the ombudsman (for the THIRD time!) - I looked at emails and time to respond/if they respond.

Within 2 days = 8%, within 5 days = 17%, within 2 weeks = 36%, no reply until complaint = 64%

EDF have replied within a day and no longer than 3 days so far.

Octopus screwed up setting up our export, made up export prices, switched us to SVR without permission, were incapable of billing correctly for more than 3 consecutive months and are now doing their very best to screw up final billing and refunds.

Enjoy your shit service and higher prices.

Well so far for me Octopus have been good and answer any queries promptly. I had no issues switching my Export to them from BG.

Vestas still got no problem getting replies or setting things up. Emails usually answered next day at the moment. I think you’ve upset them!
