I got my Givenergy system installed 04AUG22 and there was an issue with the Battery during commissioning which couldn't be resolved by the Givenergy Accredited Advanced Installer. I can see on the inverter that the PV is showing incoming but since the battery is not working the inverter is idle (all part of the commissioning). Not sure why the inverter couldn't be working without the battery. It's connected to the Wifi so I can see how much I'm not saving each day. I've been on to my installer and they are in contact with Givenergy for a solution. I've emailed Givenergy with the details and have received nothing in response. Just wondering how long support takes with these products? I've been waiting since February for this to be installed, but due to product delays only installed 04AUG22, such a disappointment. 🙁
If this was Amazon or a Shop I'd be straight back for a replacement. Why have I to wait?
Thoughts on this or has anyone had a similar experience?

10 x REC 400W Panels (7 facing SSE on one string 3 facing WSW on second string)

Commissioning Issue

The 3 in a string will likly not do anything. They wont meet the min 150v startup.
120 at best. Unless there 50v+ panels each. Even then your right on the limit.
What is the issue with the battery?
GE supportbis around 3-5 days at the moment. Unless it's something they can do remote. They mY see your post
DazMav If you're able to view the inverter via the portal, you can check that it is set to ECO mode with all the other Timed settings disabled. Check on the Remote Control page that the inverter output (Control) is set to 100% (bottom setting). I'm assuming that the ac isolator to your consumer unit is switched on. If not, best check with your installer why not. I'm not sure how the inverter behaves when fed from PV alone.
If it is connected to ac and PV and the settings above doesn't result in the inverter feeding your house load from PV, try Inverter-Settings Reset to Default. After that, it's a case of waiting for Givenergy or your installer, unless anyone else has any ideas.

Thanks for your message. The installer mention that the (VOC) Open Circuit Voltage was 48.8V per panel so 3 panels would give 146.4V. Givenergy Inverter HY5.0 needs a MPPT Voltage Range 120V - 550V so will meet the minimum requirement with a small margin.
In terms of the Battery I'm not sure. When the battery is turned on and the DC breaker open the battery stays on. As soon as you bring in the DC Breaker the battery has a rapid clicking sound which to me is like a relay switching on and off. Then there is a short beep, the status light goes red and then the battery turns off. I'm not an expert so high level this is what I seen. Hopefully Givenergy will get me up and going before too long with what you mentioned for the GE Support turnaround. Would have been a great week solar wise to have tested the system.

Thanks for your message. Inverter "Max Power output Active Power Percent" 100%. ECO is disabled. I'm seeing on the PV Data screen VPV1 (V) 138.5 (that's for the 3 Panels on one String 48.8 VOC per panel, Inverter needs MPPT 120V minimum). The inverter is 32.1 for Temperature. Grid Import total since 04AUG22 248KW (EV, Aircon, HW). I'm thinking if it didn't get commissioned on day one then the system is idle until Givenergy have a successful commission.

I had this exact problem (but on an AC inverter) and Givenergy had to send an engineer out to fix it as something had failed in the inverter (not sure what, sorry).

The MPPT may well be 120v bottom end. The startup voltage is needed before the string wakes up.
Voc is always higher than MPPT voltage.
Do you ever see power generated by string 2?

Maybe it is the inverter clicking? Don't know for sure. Ya I think an engineer may be required is what the installer said. How long before you got sorted?

Thanks for the MTTP info. The second string was never connected as there's a continuity problem on the roof which requires the roofing team back to sort out. Not sure if it's the Tigo's or connector. Was hoping to at least have 1.2kw generated from one string, especially over the last week. Not very lucky on this install.

The required string startup voltage differs between the Gen1 and Gen2 hybrid inverters.
The Gen1 with USB plug-in WiFi dongle requires 120 Vdc on a string.
The Gen2 with built-in WiFi and an antenna requires 150 Vdc on a string.

Same issue with my system, inverter issue. Givenergy are raising a ticket and it sounds like a replacement required. When yours was fixed did they replace the inverter or repair on site? How long to repair?

DazMav They repaired the inverter on site in about 10 minutes. I think they came out within 10 days or so of reporting the fault.
