Home Consumption Not Being Measured

In an earlier post "Home Consumption Surge" I expressed frustration with the system reporting a Home load of circa 6.7kW for over 5 hours when hardly anything was running. Today I have the opposite. Apparently, despite the Washing Machine being on the house is consuming precisely 0W. Since commissioning on 15 August it had actually been there or thereabouts with consumption, but the past two days have shaken my faith in the system and Givenergy products. Solar is merrily generating 1.3kW and slowly charging the battery and apparently exporting to the grid when I would like it to support the house. Am I the only one who is exasperated at the performance of the system?

Chris_D sounds like the meter tail is installed incorrectly.

Hit pause on the battery. So its charge and discharge are set to 0.
Also turn off the solar. To remove that from the equation
Now your just left with grid as a source of power.
Now read grid reading. Is it showing xW import.
Or Export, when your actually importing?

This seems all screwed up. I was trying to work out how to do what you suggested and then noticed that my home load has shot up to 6.2kW, just AFTER the washing machine was turned off. My smart meter IHD is showing -3.46kW going to the grid and the Portal shows grid IMPORT as a minus value of -3.057kW, grid EXPORT is 0W.
I think I am going to wrap a cold towel around my head and lie down in a darkened room before drafting some feedback and a long letter to the support team.

The household consumption (Load) can only be calculated by having accurate readings for 3 other values, solar PV generation, battery import/export, and grid import/export, hence the 4 way indication on the front of the inverter.

You should have an EM115 model electric meter monitoring your grid cable (so located close to your main utility meter).
If this is accessible, you can press the single button on it to cycle through various values including the instantaneous power (in kW). If you have your solar PV and battery switched off, then switch on say a kettle, you should see the 3 kW kettle load plus any other household consumption on the EM115 display.

There is another thread currently working through issues with the live grid import/export power value being correctly reported to the inverter (including the correct +ve or -ve polarity). Without this grid meter working correctly, the calculated household load will not be correct.
Not saying you have exactly the same problem, but the issue is similar.
