For some reason the update stopped around 56%. It was left for some considerable time then it displayed "failed update". Now if I try and update the firmware again, it displays: Updating Inverter dsp - 3% then fails. I assume it's now buggered ? I've tried turning the battery and inverter off for a while to see if this resets it but it's not done anything. Is there anyway of a tech to try and fix this over the weekend or will I have to wait until Monday morning ? I really hope it's something that can be fixed over the phone or via remote connection as the installation firm that installed it originally are totally useless. Help !
Battery Firmware Update failed.
Xx-Mythril-xX IME the firmware updates are quite flaky. Give it a few hours, run it again and it will probably work. Mine updated the inverter, failed on the battery update, failed on the battery update again, then worked about half an hour later.

They'll most likely reply even over weekend but when mine went wonky I had to pull the USB and delete the update files off it and start again.
Will try and find my notes but it's not just a case of wiping the lot, some needed to stay in place.
Thanks guys. I'll leave it off for the night and see if it sorts itself out in the morning. If not hopefully tech will have been in touch but if not, I'll have a go with your notes ๐

Xx-Mythril-xX just tried mine and it keeps failing too but the system still seems to be working okay.
Sorry to hear yours has failed too. My dongle is flashing so I assume it's lost wi-fi connection. It's hardwired also. I'll leave it off for tonight. Hopefully tech will pick it up soon ๐ค
Yep it's dead. Looks like it's lost wi-fi communication. The IP of the battery/inverter must have changed or it's lost the password. Will try again later on
Sorted it with the help of tech.
How we fixed it was to use the dongle on a PC and delete all files on there but leaving the .txt file intact. This then allowed the dongle to connect to the network again. Problem solved ๐
My battery updated to 3005 this morning but the SOC has been all over the place ever since. The system was only installed three days ago so I don't have much to reference it against, other than the battery SOC is dropping really fast since the update. I raised it with GE support this morning but haven't heard anything back yet. I'm sure they will respond at some point and put my mind at ease, for now though, I'll just keep watching the SOC falling away and wondering whats going on!
c_squared The battery does a charge/discharge cycle after a fw update.
browellm Thanks. That could explain some of the irregularities with SOC. It certainly dropped off a cliff from 90% to zero and then charged for an hour to go back to 100%. Its just since then its dropping really quickly, 10 mins of discharging at 2.6kw took the SOC from 100% to 52%. Possibly should say that its an 8.2 battery, just for reference.

c_squared I did the update this morning and it's being doing the calibration pretty much all day here too.
judgepd Hopefully it will return to normal performance soon!

c_squared Just got back to 100% and seems to be working as I would expect but there's hardly any demand on it at the moment as the house is empty.
after the update battery firmware 3005 . battery charging to 100% and the discharging to 0% . and this cycle repeat all day . and inverter not showing any solar generation at this time when battery discharging . if anyone know why this happening . because battery charging all time from grid mode on ECO mode all day on Sunday ...
I have a bit more data to back up my gut feeling now. I had the battery set to charge up to 100% at midnight. It started on 3% SOC, it took on 1.7kwh over 40 minutes to get back to 100% SOC. now discharging and falling away rapidly. I seem to have lost a significant portion of battery capacity with the firmware upgrade. Trying my best to wait patiently for GE support to get back to me so I can find out how it will be resolved.
So mine updated at the 3rd attempt but is now showing 100% charge when it was at 65%?
Edit and now the bloody thin g is discharging at 2.5kw! Whats going on.

It's part of the recalibration after the update. Just relax chaps ๐

Does anyone know if GE run recalibration on scheduled basis? Yearly? Or only when there is a fault?
browellm how long does recalibration take?

c_squared Calibration discharges the battery down to it's minimum voltage, sets that as zero, then charges to it's maximum voltage and sets that as 100%. It all depends on how much charge it starts with.

I have done the update manually to D0.534-A0.534 on my AC3 but now in the remote control options it shows max batt charge and discharge as 2600watt and not the 3000watt it is meant to do? Also the batt firmware update continues to fail.
judgepd I wonder if thatโs where mine has gone wrong then, as in the calibration has impacted on battery function. Today, my battery SOC went from 4% to 100% on 1.7kwh only. It then discharged from 100% down to 4% with 1.4 kWh discharged. Itโs an 8.2kwh battery.

THALL I'd report that one as I'm not sure the calculation in the remote page is right (although the actual discharge is correct when you use it)
Mine was showing 4000W after portal changes few weeks back > reported it > hotfix applied which then shows 1300W (i.e half max rate miscalc as the API scales 0-50 not 0-100%) >Reported again > Hotfix 2 showing proper 2600.
Suspect the fix may have mistakenly been rolled out to your AC3's aswell.
All sorted by hotfix though within 30mins so not a problem.

hoggy It does appear to be working correctly, better than correct actually. It is discharging at 3.3kw doing a calibration!

Something seems to be off. If I set the charge power to 1638W in the inverter control then read that value back from the read registers section it's actually set to 1040W. If I set it to 3000W in the inverter control then in the read registers it's actually 2600W. I think it's operating as per the inverter control but I would have expected the 2 values to agree with each other.

judgepd Yep. Something is coded incorrectly. But it does appear to be working as expecting. Batt says it is discharging at 3310watts the inverter says 2980w
I spoke with tech support, they confirmed that I have lost battery capacity and will trigger another calibration for me. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.
browellm yep i raised a ticket. I'm unimpressed that i didn't receive a warning that a recalibration would happen. so not best pleased. If 'i'd have known then I would have done the fw update at the proper time and and used the drain to power the cooker/ car or something not send it back to the grid. Then re charge at the cheap rate.
Battery @ SOC 80% discharge down to zero and then top up again (which i can't stop) all at my cost.
I've had a word with support, they've turned off the recalibration and will re initialise it tonight when my cheap rate kicks in. But are adamant a pop up should have happened warning of the recal - it most certainly did not!
They really do need to communicate better.

This is a warning on my "firmware update" card unless you've done this the other way via remote control?
Click the button below to upgrade your system software
This process will take 5 - 30 minutes, depending on which software your system already has
Please ensure that the inverter has both a grid and internet connection during this time
Once the process has started, you may close this page and the update will continue in the backgroundThe inverter will be updated. During the upgrade procedure, the inverter will beep and its lights will flash. If the update was successful, the inverter will also reboot
The battery will be updated. If this update is successful, it will then recalibrate itself by fully discharging and charging its stored energy

Agreed. I alluded to this issue here

I must try to remind myself of this for future updates and wait until the battery is empty to start...but I really struggle to ignore an "update available" notification on anything. ๐

judgepd Same here. I know I shouldn't automatically update everything, in my job I know not to be the first to everything but at home I do leave everything ticked to update automatically.

judgepd Hi,
Thanks for spotting this! We've found a problem in the code which is causing these values to be different in different places. We'll be applying a hotfix very soon to rectify this problem.
-Edit The hotfix has been applied successfully.

Sam D (GivEnergy) Yep, both places agree for me now.
Looks like yesterdayโs recalibration has solved my issue with battery capacity since the upgrade. ๐
I don't even seem to be able to remote control either of my AC 3.0s or batteries. Everytime I try "remote control" in the portal and try to read some values it tells me that something has gone wrong. It reports as either "inverter timed out" or "undefined" and yet the inverter appears online and is reported in the Dashboard as "Normal".
Had I only known I was buying a mechano DIY piece of kit. This really is garbage.
