Where are the basics? The intro sections?
Has the tech changed so much recently that manuals are either not available or they are buried beyond simple reach?
I really don't want to appear negative but newcomers really need somewhere to start.
A geek fest is great if you're a geek. Customer support needs to do more to cater for the punters out there that haven't got time to learn about APIs and all of that guff. They (me included) just want a solution.

I do agree with you. I've been in tech all my working life with different companies covering all the industries and the acronyms being used mean different things in different areas.
Maybe a guide to the acronyms used for this area of tech would help.

What I'm now starting to become increasingly aware of is that the firmware does odd things.
This is not plainly about not understanding things, it's more about system design and function.
For example, why is it that there is a setting for "Reserve" in the app, seemingly the same setting in the battery options in the web portal, when this setting is clearly ignored if you have other settings enabled?
This appears to be one of many far too accessible anomalies.
I'm very wary of busting this system by fiddling with settings that are there in the app and portal.
But I have Octopus Flux and it appears that yet again many hours have to be spent in front of this screen in order to figure out how on earth to get it working optimally.
Maybe this is all just one elaborate ploy to get AIs into homes, if so I'm here, you're welcome, you can chat with my ceiling IR heaters and sort them out too as they clearly have a mind of their own.
You are right. Strange things happen if you try to be too sophisticated in the controls. I also have Flux and have been through the screen watching and trying to find the optimum settings. I've now come to the conclusion that, in the Spring/Summer it's best simply left alone. Ideally you want the battery to be at 100% at 16:00.
I played with forced export in peak hours but found that this sometimes caused the battery to become stuck in idle.
I have it set to charge to 50% at night but actually that hardly ever kicks in as if I start the evening at 100% then it doesn't drop below this.
I think it may well be different in the Winter and I may well want a 100% charge at the cheap rate. But for now, I just leave it alone and it makes me money!
someone on here "Steve Cook" maybe uses Octopus R&D to set timed discharge at 4pm, then uses it to turn ECO mode back on after discharge. There is a bug (another one!) that doesn't re-enable ECO after timed discharge, which is why you have your issue.
For me, I just can't be arsed. I've got timed charge 2-5am to 100%, then I leave it on ECO the rest of the day. (ECO correctly resumes after 5am without any fiddling)
I can't see how to turn ECO mode back on via Octopus R&D. I'll raise a separate query to see if anyone can help.

Ubarrow Once R&D has completed it's action (ie timed charge, or forced discharge/export) it automatically sets ECO back on.
TurnerSN13 yes, but I think it only tries to do that once. So I believe if, for whatever reason, the Comms from octopus to the GE cloud to the inverter fails, it stays in the previous mode.
