Have a problem where since around 5:15pm I can't change either hybrid inverter settings - portal seems to be stuck with last updated info ( solar, battery state etc) and app is showing zero on all status' woth both batteries showing ??.
For reference both dongles are SIM versions - and I've rebooted both Inverters to try and clear. Installed mid October, data for SIM should be a minimum of a year, any thoughts?

App not working, just shows ‘Home load’ with zero and no other icons.
GivEnergy.cloud also not working with ‘500 Server Error’

I also have the same issue ie: app not working and portal showing error 500
Any ideas what to do?

I used a search engine to look for "server error 500".

The first hit said "This isn't a problem with your browser, your computer, or your internet connection. It's a problem with the site you're trying to visit."

So hopefully it isn't too serious and GivEnergy are aware and working on it.

Both my app and portal are working again, not sure what happened.

Perhaps they tried turning it off and on again!

Mine's back too, but no data seems to have been logged for the last 4 hours or so.

Ok, forgive my ignorance here as I’m no tech geek but why does the server going down cause issues with the “home” version of the app? If this is meant to be local data?

I can understand the “away version” going down as that’s older data exported to their servers?

Does this mean also that if GE ever went out of business that the app/portal etc would no longer work and we would be left with equipment we couldn’t use?

It looks as though the data is on their server. If you are on a home wifi or ethernet connection then you get very frequent updates but if on your phone the update interval is longer to reduce data costs.
But I don't yet know much about it myself, so someone with more knowledge would be a help.

What I also don't get is why the inventory/battery cannot just cache the data locally so that when cloud server comes back online it can just upload the missing data points.

anthony I was told by my installer that there is a lack of storage in the battery and inverter, so much so that to install new firmware there needs to be a USB drive added to do this.

All your data is sent from the inverter in your property to the Giv Energy cloud and then bounced back for you to see on the portal or app. If the server goes down all your solar equipment continues to run as before the outage, but you can't change settings at this time, or see what is going on. You are still generating power and supplying the house/battery etc - you just can't see it. When the servers come back if you look at the power flow graph you will see there are not time points every 10mins a usual - just one at the beginning of the outage and one at the end connected by a straight line - this is the giveaway that something has happened. If you check your notifications - you will see Giv Energy posted a message saying the server was down and no inverter data was recorded in this time.
