Hi all, We have just had a system installed with a 5kw inverter, 9.5 kw battery, two seperate pv feeds/strings 1 with 4.9kw worth of panels the other with 1.6kw.
The system works great until the battery is full and then the system stops generating apart from the small load from the house (500w as I work from home), It doesn't export more than a few hundred watts and the eddi emersion heater system gets no surplus. I know our export limit is set to at least 4.5kw. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening ?

I think this has been reported before, for the Gen2 5kW hybrid inverter. I could not find anything on here in the recent posts, so perhaps it was on one of the two Facebook groups. I think GE is aware but I can't remember what the latest was regarding a solution.
Essentially the solar was being throttled to almost zero, even in strong sun.

welshrat, there have been a few people reporting this issue, which is potentially resolved with a firmware update for the inverter and battery but is currently in beta test (so not suitable for everyone).
Simon_C Yes, I'm still in the same boat. Have asked about joining the beta to get the updated firmware (which is apparently nearing release).
In the meantime, sometimes I just switch the App to forced discharge which seems to bring the generation back up for a while, until the battery is around 98% again.

michaelhoskins, I am on the beta test program now, but I never had the issue with reduced solar gen when the battery is full during the month or so running on the factory release firmware (as per my icon details).
It is unclear why some people have the problem and some do not, although in some cases it can be related to high grid voltage (above 253 Vac) causing the throttling of the inverter.

Simon_C Thanks. I spent some time going over the Grid voltage figures from the portal, checking each day and sorting the figures to show the highest grid voltage, and it only got over 250v once, normally around 248v - never higher than 253v.
Also tried limiting the battery to 95%, but that doesn't seem to work.
It's odd because if I turn something on like the toaster, the generation does respond, so it is there...just being "hidden" or ignored by the inverter. I'm hoping the firmware change (If I'm allowed) will make a difference before the summer starts!

Think I will turn off eco mode on the battery tomorrow once it gets full and see what happens

welshrat I did a reset and then limited charge to 95%. No idea of the basis for that at all I'm afraid. Still very much a learning curve!
Ok cool, I saw the on the other thread that a givenergy poster had posted the following
"Please contact support, I have authorised pre release of the Gen2 FW, to resolve this issue. Explain your solar is cutting out once battery is full or over 95%, then is choppy and wont export it.
The new FW will export the solar instead of backing off, upto your export limit, or the inverter output limit
There are still a couple of minor bugs relating to AC charge set %, stopping solar above the set level, so leave it at 100% and dont use it.
Apart from that, the Gen2 is ready.
It will be married with a BETA battery FW, 4074. Which is still being tweaked, but it too it nearly ready"
Was it the AC charge set that you adjusted ?

Well I emailed support but they sadly are no longer doing beta tests. So looks like I have to wait for the full rollout. I spoke to my installer and he spoke to Givenenergy who have apparently installed an older firmware but I can see no trace of it in the logs and it doesn't appear to have made any difference. Feeling a little short changed at the moment as it feels like only half a system.
Full rollout is apparently close though. So some hope remains.

Ah just doing it Now and it appears to be discharging battery and using generation so not all lost today
