They almost never seem to be in exact sync and I think the longer time from a calibration or a full discharge the more likely a higher discrepancy.
My two were calibrated a few days ago and currently show a 1% variance.

As they are charging they do seem to get closer as they near 100%, but last night whilst the overall charge status was showing 100%, Batt 1 was showing as 99% and Batt 2 was showing as 94%.
Fortunately Ive not suffered any crashes!! (touching loads of wood!!!)
Yeah, I’ve noticed this today, it’s a fairly significant difference between the two! 
Would the percentages look worse on 2x 2.5kWh batteries Vs say 2x 5.2kWh - because they are smaller capacity?

As you can see, yestarday the difference was even larger 5% v 26%. This morning I'm showing 36% ovrall with Batt 1 at 30% and Batt 2 at 54%


I have a Gen1 5kw Hybrid inverter with
3 x 8.2kw batteries
Installed 2020
I have not monitored closely in the past but believe the batteries kept reasonably in sync with similar SOC (charge levels) at all times.
For the last few months I have had an issue with the batteries being out of sync and divergence between SOC batteries divergence getting worse.
Despite raising with @Givenergy @GarethJones we don't seem to be making progress to resolution. e.g. Recalibration has been tried several times which has only resolved matters for a single charge/discharge cycle at best.
e.g. recently with Reserve set as 4%
Overnight:
aggregate 4% and idle
Primary 29%
Batt1 0%
Batt2 0%
evening:
aggregate 39% and
Primary 66%
Batt1 32%
Batt2 25%
morning:
aggregate 4% and therefore discharge stopped & idle
Primary 23%
Batt1 3%
Batt2 1%
previous day limited solar included
aggregate 16%
Primary 32%
Batt1 15%
Batt2 13%

divergence obviously means the capacity of the batteries is not used properly for charge or discharge and is not available for EPS etc.
Have asked Givenergy to investigate & escalate - so far they have tried recalibration and a firmware update without success. Not getting much feedback on further actions.
Situation getting worse:
Overnight:
aggregate 4% and idle
Primary 29%
Batt1 0%
Batt2 0%
Yesterday evening:
aggregate SOC 51%
Primary 79%
Batt1 40%
Batt2 35%

This morning my batteries maintained that 20% =/- gap whilst charging.
Now the Overall battery is at 100% the gap is closing.
Whilst Batt 2 is at 100%, Batt 1 is creeping up - was at 94% and a few mins ago is at 95%
I am in contact with GE who emailed me the following:-
"We can see the data, the battery voltage is 0.1 from being identical so the separate percentages are not a high concern as the batteries are still working together as they should, we can perform a calibration for you by performing a full discharge then charge for you, this will correct the difference in percentage for you and we will be able to check if the battery if performing correctly. We wont act until you respond however as we do not want to remove the charge from your batteries without permission."
I've replied to them with:-
Can you confirm the following:-
1) If the overall status is showing as 100% are my batteries really fully charged? i.e each battery at 100%. Personally I would think not.
2) I there any risk of damage to the batteries?
3) Could the batteries see that they are unbalanced and do a discharge to recalibrate? (thinking of the current SoC issue).
4) Can the batteries adjust themselves to show the same percentage over time?"
Now waiting on their reply. My main concerns are questions 2 & 3

in my case even when my charge has been "full" on SOC the underlying has been nowhere near - and stopped charging.

There is no consistency. At times Primary has had the highest charge but at times Primary has been the lowest!
It seems to me there is definitely an issue - as its being raised by a few people. Other people may have the problem but simply be unaware if they are not monitoring.
The lack of responses from @Givenergy is disappointing - indeed worrying.
As Octopus Tracker is cheap today (19.56p) I will kick off a full charge. lets see where it gets to
Here's mine. Pretty typical for my setup. Standard big jump at the top on the primary battery. The system seems to work the primary much harder. I rarely see a SoC jump on the secondary.

This split is an issue that I've been quite vocal on during the beta testing. It's still not perfect, but current beta firmware does realign the batteries well when they are empty and idle. I understand the next release will also do this at other soc conditions, so we're seeing incremental improvements prior to production release. Hopefully tracking of multi packs can be improved further, to negate the need for corrections. Think currently it's unfortunately a case of waiting until the new firmware is released if the voltages are well matched and not causing any capacity issues.
Fyi, the big gap developing midway through 23rd was due to an issue with the firmware, that has a fix pending

mpartington hopefully you're right. I have been using for 2.5 years with 3 batteries and I'm pretty sure SOC stayed in reasonable sync until relatively recently. I'm not sure when it started going wrong - presumably info is somewhere in the logs? At a guess its gone wrong in last 3 months or so.
Obviously disappointing lack of updates or info from @Givenergy who have blandly passed it off on calibration.. and then on a firmware update that did not fix it.

Tim Adams that's the latest production version that you're on. I'm currently beta testing 4073, but that's been closed to new entries.

We are on the latest 4073 beta software and are still getting the differences between the SOC on each battery.

Also noticed that the Battery Cycles is different, even though they were both installed at the same time.
351 for the Primary & 291 for the Secondary.
Woodlands mines the other way around oddly
256 cycles on Primary
275 cycles on Secondary
Further improvements for this issue are on the way in beta
Tim Adams is it just that it's more obvious since the app updates? Previously individual battery soc were hidden, with the only sign being a different number of lit status LEDs on the packs
I have https://givenergy.cloud as well as the App on Android - but I don't know how to see @mpartington @Woodlands type graphics for the SOC over time on all 3 batteries? I tend to just take snapshots (more work!). Any suggestions welcomed. Would probably help demonstrate just how much it varies.

since saying they are rarely teh same my ywo have for the past 2 days been identical ( max 2$ variance for a couple of hours)

All, this is the repsonse I have received back from GE answering my questions:-
"Hi Steve,
The small difference in the battery voltage will be the reason you are seeing two separate percentages for your battery charge. I can see the percentage being out slightly however their functionality is normal.
We currently see no risk for your batteries, the voltage is so similar we can see that they are working together and no strain is being pushed onto either battery
The batteries currently will not sync back up unless we were to perform a calibration, however we will be releasing some firmware in the future to resolve this exact issue as it is a common one."

Hopefully batteries will fill to 100% if sun continues

Mine today are now sitting at 100% overall but batt1 is at 97% and batt2 is at 98%.
So I’ve not had any problems and the system seems to be realigning itself.
I use GivTCP via Home Assistant. That allows me to create these graphs

Allowed the batteries to go down lower last night (because of the solar forecast for today).
They appear to be a bit closer after both dropping to a lower SOC.

Mine at the moment.
Even though one battery is reporting 94% and the other 100%, the system has stopped charging. This means that the system is not capable of delivering its stated capacity.
The voltages are at 53.18 and 53.42 for the batteries showing 100% and 94% respectively.
Zakalwe I hit 100% and 4% reported SOC every single day but they don't seem to get back in line

mine 20% difference today was 16 % yesterday I’m convinced I have a faulty battery.
Can I turn off one battery to let the other catch up will this to any damage , will it matter if I turn off primary or secondary

They say nothing to worry about and there is a fix coming out to address this.
I would still report it to them so it is logged.
A miracle has occurred see my earlier photo of batteries 29% and 9% this photo was taken at 08.34am
It is fairly cloudy then about an hour later I rechecked my app and BOTH batteries are 100% full,
I went out to the batteries and the LEDs o; the battery show full up.
I really don’t know what is going on as last night I was trying to prove a point to my installer so I put on all power Hungary items this drained one battery 3% and second to 28% I did this because in my mind both batteries should drain and fill at pretty much the same amount I took pictures to prove this.
So last night I had very little battery power so how the hell can they be full now with no sunlight. I do not charge from the grid.
It’s a miracle or do you know better?
