No grid import or export - inverter CT clamp config issue?

I just noticed on my predbat prediction that it believed I had not imported or anything today, which seemed a bit odd.
Looking at the power meters in Home Assistant I could see I was generating plenty, the Octopus mini said I was exporting, but the GivEnergy sensors for import and export on both inverters were zero, the GivEnergy app and the BBC basic app both show zero going to/from the grid.

I think its when GivEnergy were trying to make some 'resets' to my inverters to get the Intelligent Octopus Flux enrolment working (which still isn't), that something in my inverter or CT clamp setup has been misconfigured. The little lights and numbers are appearing on the physical meters and none of the wiring has been touched. Plus its both inverters reporting the same.

Any ideas whether this is something I can fix myself? Of course its now Saturday evening so I guess I will have to wait until Monday morning

No grid import or export today:

Meter data from yesterday stops incrementing around 10:00:

The IOF "fix" that was tried (which is the same that was done for another person https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/4267-intelligent-flux-sign-up-issues/7) was to change the inverter type from G99 to G98 which causes a 'reset' of the inverter, and then change it back again:

I think its Enable Meters that should have been set to 1, or possibly CT direction ?

So that was an annoying and painful weekend with a hobbled inverter setup.

GivEnergy had left the meters configured to ‘off’ so the inverter wasn’t reading whether there was any import or export going on which is how I first spotted in Home Assistant that there was something wrong, the ‘consumption used today’ was stuck on zero even after a sunny day.

But more of an issue I found out afterwards was that Eco mode wouldn’t work either as the inverter couldn’t know whether it needed to discharge or charge the battery in response to house load and solar as it couldn’t read what was flowing in and out of the house.

I found that if I manually initiated a timed export or a forced charge then that did work, the inverter would discharge or charge the battery, and of course electricity would be used by the house first and then exported or imported if need be. During the day it was fine, there was loads of solar, but at night I had to turn predbat to read only, set a forced discharge, set the discharge rate to 900W or so so the battery would cover house load and not import (other than the kettle etc being turned on). Filling the batteries overnight on cheap agile was the same process.

Spoke to GivEnergy this morning and they’ve set the Enable Meters back on and it’s all working fine now.

Sigh

What a complete pain!

Moral - avoid having any problems on a Friday 🙂

why/how were they ever not enabled?

PianSom GivEnergy reconfigured my inverters on Friday morning but it wasn’t until Saturday evening 7pm (just after the support line had closed) that I noticed the problem, and I only noticed the problem by seeing that the ‘costs today’ were zero. On Friday there’d been export income in the morning so I hadn’t realised that they’d flatlined for the rest of the day, and Saturday there were a couple of times I thought it was odd that there wasn’t any export going on but had just put it down to something else running.

SteveCook GivEnergy were trying to reset my inverters so I could enrol to Intelligent Octopus Flux. One way they do that is to change the inverter type from G99 (5kW) to G98 (3.6kW) and back again, which apparently turns the meters off. They should have rewritten the meter control, turning them back on, but instead of writing the meter control the support technician just read it. You can see it in the logs. Hey ho

I wonder if all PV companies are the same.
I am really happy with my GivEnergy kit and installation, but luckily I am a retired engineer so have had the time/knowledge to sort out all the things that should have worked "out of the box"
EPS and RCD issues
Timed export/Eco settings (now on HA and predbat)
Firmware updates and subsequent manual roll backs
Etc
