Firmware update....should I have just left it alone :(

I've been on 3009 version for sometime now, not had any issue with it at all but as it was nice and sunny today the devil in me thought it would be a good time to run the firmware update to 3015....

The install seemed ok but now the system has just gone back to doing what it was doing before, no discharge to zero / calibration etc

Is this normal? Is it going to cause me issues when the sun goes in and I have to pay for the juice to calibrate the battery?

My inverter number is SA2209G104 if this is of any use to anyone 🙂

Many thanks!!

Just noticed battery also claims capacity is only 6.4kWh when it should be 8.2kWh?

🙁

Phone tech support... At least you did it on a Monday...

Ra Is this normal?

When I updated to 3015, it explicitly said there would be no calibration cycle, and that it would figure things out as it went, or something like that.

I believe some 8.2kWh batteries only offered 80% DoD - is it possible they're now quoting usable energy ?

DD and yet mine did a full calibration cycle last December going from 3013-3015 so who knows the current policy?

Found the message still in my notifications:

A battery firmware update is scheduled to update to version 3015 on your system within the next 3 days, this will not trigger a battery calibration and will self calibrate over the series of several days. During the self calibration you may see battery percentage inaccuracies

i think that was coming from 3012

DD Like I said, who knows 🙂

Maybe its a G1/everything else is OK issue.

I've done some digging / spoke to some people and the latest firmware doesn't need a calibration cycle as it stands so fingers crossed I'll be ok 🙂

Everything else seems ok at the moment.

Ra Mine updated from 3012 to 3015 a week ago without me asking it to. No calibration occurred. Also I got the 'startign update' message but no 'it's finished'

It hasn't improved the transient drops to zero behaviour however.

gwynnej3 Those are comms errors rather than anything going wrong.

Not sure if this is linked but I had a forced firmware update last week and now at half 10 at night, my battery at 100% I am still importing from the grid as opposed to using the sun's stored energy from my batteries...???

Anyone else having similar issues?

Vestas
what can cause a Comms error?

V

Robgy BMS too busy to reply so times out, modbus timing out due to more than one device polling the inverter, phases of the moon etc 😉

CRC checks on comms improved things a bit but it is what it is....

Mine seems (touch wood) ok. My main concern was that the calibration it said would happen didn't and that the battery was not showing as 8.2kWh but both of these issues seem to have righted themselves.

Last night I got a new update button to enable updateof the inverter firmware from 505 to 202. Initial impression is that the response time has improved dramatically - previously it could take up to a minute for the inverter to repond to a new demand such as switching on the kettle, now it takes just a few seconds. An update worth installing for me at least.

After the update my battery now only maxes at 99% and not 100%...which is weird...

I have 2 x 8.2kWh packs which variously max at 98 - 100%, but it varies. I don't worry too much about that.

Oddly and this may have been done remotely by GE support having raised a ticket with them last night, however my battery is now showing as running firmware version 3017 from 3015. I left the firmware as pending update with the battery running 3015 as of early this AM

I've checked the logs and all entries point back to the three failed attempts last night.

Do GE just remote in and remotely fix??

I received this from GivEnergy support, just in case anyone else experiences these updates failing as I did
