Smart meter stopped communicating, Inverter doesn’t use the battery

On Thursday 26th September my smart meter stopped sending any usage data. Then on 4th October, the tariff was changed to Agile import for the winter. For some reason on the GE side it still showed we were on Intelligent Flux. The battery and inverter operated correctly albeit charging as if we were still on IF at fixed times early morning. I didn’t rush to change anything as it was more or less doing what was required, however on 23rd October I decide to try and get the tariff set correctly.
It was at this point that things went wrong. I suspect that the GE system and smart meter had remained in communication up to that point as nothing had changed, but when I attempted to change the tariff a new connection had to be made and the smart meter could no longer be found.
Consequently, virtually all our load is now being taken direct from the grid, the battery does for some reason gradually discharge about 15W, but that’s all.
I have contacted Octopus a couple of times and they say that the reset usually takes about 6-8 weeks before an engineer will come out, which is pretty rubbish.
Does anybody else have a similar experience? Is there anything I can do to make the best of this situation?

Locally, your GE system does not speak directly to the smartmeter. It measures the load independently using a CT clamp around the meter taiils.

If you have some kind of smart tariff support set up on the portal, that would get data from the octopus site, rather than smartmeter.

If your inverter was still behaving as if it was still IF, it's possible that Octopus have not (yet) given up control. See https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/4345-octopus-keep-taking-over-after-i-removed-their-access

IF tended to keep the eco flag turned off - this is one possible reason why your inverter is not supplying energy to the house.

Don't give Octopus any manual meter readings or anything. Wait for them to come out and fix it. They will have to, eventually.

I wonder if you're saying that the GE portal can no longer see your Octopus account?

If you log into your octopus account (or use their app), can you still see the energy usage?
