HI, Looking to install Giv 5kw hybrid & 9.5 battery(s) asap BUT need 5kw charge/discharge rate.
Specs say that max charge/discharge rate of 9.5 kw battery is only 3.6kw.
if I have 2 batteries will this bring the max rates up to the 5kw limit of the inverter??

No.
The charge/discharge rate of the battery(s) is limited by the inverter.
At this stage GE do not support 2 inverter setup to allow 2 batteries/2 inverters to provide double output rate.
I think a single inverter can supply solar + battery at a combined higher number when the sun is shining but that was not your question
SteveCook that's not entirely true. Givenergy do support multiple inverter and battery setups, I have two hybrid inverters each with their own batteries, and it is a supported configuration, it's just not recommended by givenergy.
With multiple inverters you can achieve higher charge and discharge rates. I do regularly in the morning pv and evening flux discharge

What you say was also backed up by my installer - and to cut a long story short I'm going the tesla route - turns out it is about the same price but gives 5kw which I think is enough to cover 95% of our peak usage. We'll have to see if we regret the loss of kwh!
